Driving Success
in Art Education
A Strategic Case Study
Project Overview
To better connect with parents and reflect its creative values, an art and design education provider needed a website redesign.
I restructured the site to modernize its visuals, simplify navigation, and make registration more intuitive.
Problems
The existing website faced several critical issues, including an outdated design that did not reflect the organization’s creative and modern ethos, cumbersome navigation, and inadequate presentation of course information. The registration process was complex, and communication channels were limited, impacting user experience and efficiency. Additionally, the website lacked effective community engagement features and social media integration. These challenges hindered the ability to attract and retain families, necessitating a comprehensive redesign to improve user experience, information accessibility, and overall engagement.

Understanding
User’s Perspective
To understand users’ experiences, we focused on their interactions with and feedback on the existing website. Here’s what they shared:
"I need detailed information about art programs and a simple registration process. Clarity and efficiency are crucial for me."
"I want a mobile-friendly website that allows me to quickly access course details and register with minimal effort."
"I’m looking for clear explanations of programs and positive testimonials to help me make an informed decision about my child’s art education."
"I value seeing student achievements and community events. Active social media links help me stay connected and informed."
"I’m interested in how the
studio highlights student successes and community activities, and I appreciate having easy access to social media for the latest updates."
Research Findings
To identify the current pain points users encounter, we focused on challenges related to art education, resource accessibility, and user engagement. Here’s what we discovered:
Outdated Design: The current website does not reflect the studio's creative and modern ethos, leading to a lack of visual appeal and disconnect with the target audience.
Cumbersome Navigation: Users reported difficulties in navigating the site, which made it challenging to find relevant information about programs and courses. This complicated user experience discouraged exploration and engagement.
Inadequate Course Information Presentation: Course offerings were poorly organized, lacking clarity and detail. Parents struggled to understand the benefits and specifics of each program, affecting their decision-making.
Complex Registration Process: The registration system was identified as overly complicated, resulting in frustration for users. A streamlined process is essential to facilitate easy enrollment.
Limited Communication Channels: The website offered insufficient options for parents to connect with the studio, seek support, or provide feedback, which diminished overall engagement and satisfaction.
" I need clear information on how these classes benefit their overall development."
"I’m juggling a lot and need a straightforward registration process for art classes. If it’s too complicated, I’ll likely skip it altogether, even if I think my child would benefit."
"It’s important for my child to connect with peers who share their interests. I want to see more community events where they can showcase their work and engage with other young artists."
"I’m juggling a lot and need a straightforward registration process for art classes. If it’s too complicated, I’ll likely skip it altogether, even if I think my child would benefit."
Understanding the user perspective,
we created the personas to help us move forward with our
decision-making.

Considering the personas and research data, I aim to
address the specific problem through a targeted question.
How might we design a seamless and engaging online platform that effectively showcases educational programs, engages parents, and facilitates communication and registration?
Brainstorming and solutions
Considering the pain points of our personas, I generated several potential ideas
and settled on the solution of creating a platform for programs, parents
engagement, and streamlined communication.

Wireframes: Ideating and early stages of design

Refining User Experience
After the early stage of user testing and a client meeting on the wireframes,
feedback highlighted two crucial aspects: simplifying content and introducing a cohesive storytelling approach. Design refinement focused on achieving clarity
through minimal text and strong visual storytelling. We prioritized infographics to communicate program offerings and crafted a gallery-inspired interface that invites exploration—reflecting Mindart’s creative and educational ethos.
Creative Direction
Informed by user research, stakeholder input, and competitive analysis, I defined the brand values for Mindart Studio as creative, nurturing, professional, inspiring, and approachable. These values reflect the studio’s commitment to high-quality art education while fostering a welcoming environment for both parents and students. They guided the development of a moodboard that balances artistic expression with clarity, setting the tone for a visual identity rooted in both creativity and trust.

Learnings
This project reinforced the importance of reducing friction in the enrollment flow and maintaining transparency in class information for parents. I also learned the value of linking design decisions to measurable outcomes—such as sign-ups, growth, and engagement—to clearly demonstrate product impact and guide future iterations.
